BEGONIA

The project aims to design and develop cross-border Operational Digital Platforms (ODPs), capitalizing on existing and emerging European data, cloud, edge computing, and connectivity infrastructures to improve interoperability and standardization. The primary objective is to accelerate the digital transformation of the energy and transport sectors, fostering a virtuous cycle of public-private investment partnerships. The ultimate objective is to enhance Europe's dominance in the worldwide data economy and drive the digital and green transformations using cross-border solution advancements and technologies. The project will identify and prepare use cases for deployment of operational digital platforms, conduct feasibility studies, and establish regulatory and technical frameworks for each selected use case from at least 7 EU Member States. The digital platforms will incorporate renewable energy sources, enhance energy production and consumption efficiency, encourage the adoption of eco-friendly transportation modes, and minimize carbon emissions, thereby supporting the EU's environmental and energy objectives. Through its innovative and comprehensive approach, the project is expected to make a substantial impact on achieving the EU's environmental and energy targets while stimulating the digital economy and generating employment opportunities in the upcoming work programs.
